In 2015 the citizens of Burkburnett Independent School District voted in a $47.1 million bond improvement project. Corlett, Probst & Boyd was graciously selected to provide professional engineering and surveying services for the proposed improvements to the BISD including the design of all project sites including additions to the existing High School, Middle School, John G. Tower Elementary, I.C. Evans Elementary, and new Overton Ray Elementary.
The improvement projects to existing facilities included surveying, stormwater drainage problem rectification, flat work design, utility relocation, cost analysis, budget preparation and project management.

The most challenging part of this BISD bond improvement project was the design of the 3-4- 5 elementary Overton Ray Elementary School. The site available for this new school construction project offered many design trials and tribulations. The site was in a floodprone area with a history of not only groundwater problems, but past oil industry wastelands. CPB was able to work with BISD and their other design professionals to overcome these hurdles providing a safe environmental civil design for the new school that opened on-time and within budget.
CPB has a long history and a good working relationship with many school districts in North Texas including Burkburnett, Holliday, Seymour, City View, Saint Jo, and Wichita Falls ISD’s. Our longtime experience and knowledge working with school districts in the North Texas area in general regarding local standards, environmental conditions, water conservation and expansive soils allowed us to provide engineered designs tailored to the school district’s specific needs. CPB has a vested interest in WFISD since we are local and our own family and friends’ value from the quality of education WFISD provides our children.
